About
Tallow comes from the fat that gathers around the kidneys of an animal (in our case, cows), also known as suet. Once the suet has been rendered down, this beautiful, nutrient dense fat is created and is now known as tallow.
You cannot have just any fat off the cow and turn it into tallow. Tallow specifically renders from the suet and this is important because it contains loads of vitamins since it was surrounding the animals organs.
It is also important to know what the animal is fed because this can affect the nutritional value of the rendered tallow. A diet of mostly grass best!
Some of our tallow comes straight from our beautiful steers that we personally fed and watered in our own back pasture. They were well loved, frolicked in the sunshine, and enjoyed their days grazing freely on pasture. We are now honoring their lives by using them nose to tail. Other batches of our tallow come from a locally owned and operated Ranch right up the road from us here in Colorado. Tallow is an excellent way to use every part of the animal who is feeding our family and has amazing, nourishing benefits for our skin!
Tallow is compatible with our skin because it shares a similar biology with the oils our skin already produces. Not only is it moisturizing, tallow is also healing. It contains loads of fatty acids and vitamins including A, D, E, and K.
How do I use tallow balm?
- as moisturizer anywhere your skin is dry- hands, face, legs- you name it!
- on acne, eczema, rashes, and any time your skin is in need of repair
- as a chlorine barrier to protect your body from the effects of a chlorine pool
- use for anti-aging! YEP! Enhance collagen production and skin cell turnover
- stretch marks and growing baby bellies
- cracks and roughness on feet
Small batch made, hand poured in the USA.
Thank you for supporting our family and our little farm!
